ZHUHAI, China, Nov. 7, 2018 – During the 12th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, AVIAGE SYSTEMS has held a signing ceremony for strategic cooperation on In-flight Connectivity, signing a Memorandum of Understanding with two business partners, ie, Donica and SATPRO respectively, for joint development of inflight connectivity solutions based on open software & hardware platforms and digital eco-system, which will make aircraft flights more efficient and safer, and passengers’ experience more enjoyable.

Since as early as September 2017, after the Civil Aviation Administration of China proposed to give more leeway to the regulation of portable electronic devices on board aircraft, this policy has heated up China’s onboard Wi-Fi market, with several airlines - including China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Air China and others - announcing that their prohibition of using mobile phones and electronic devices on their flights will be lifted. At the Airline Passenger Experience Expo in Boston in 2018, many airlines’ CEOs also talked about the importance of aircraft interconnectivity and its impact on their corporate strategies. Seizing this market opportunity, AVIAGE SYSTEMS has proposed the idea of an “open platform for aircraft Inflight Connectivity”, aiming to integrate various kinds of hardware, software and services, and customize the inflight connectivity solutions for airlines. This will not only meet the passenger needs for in-flight entertainment, but also, through connection with the cabin and cockpit crew members, achieve optimization of flight safety and efficiency.

AVIAGE SYSTEMS, by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation with Shenzhen Donica Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., an industry-leading avionics supplier, and SATPRO M&C TECH CO., LTD, a leading satellite antenna supplier, respectively, hoping for cooperating with the two counterparties on technologies, products and markets for commercial aircraft inflight connectivity systems.  Mr. YIN Zhi, Director of Products with AVIAGE SYSTEMS says:  “Through cooperation with the industry-leading companies in China, AVIAGE SYSTEMS’ Open inflight connectivity platform will bring maximized cost-effectiveness for airlines, as well as provide a richer inflight experience for passengers.”

As a leader in civil aviation electronics, AVIAGE SYSTEMS’ core product is Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) platform, an open computing platform, capable of easily hosting more applications, and improving integration ability.  At the same time, as a Tier-one avionics system solution provider for C919, a large airplane made in China, AVIAGE SYSTEMS has accumulated rich experiences in integration and certification of civil avionics, by tapping into the advantages of its parent companies - GE and Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd.  The newly launched open inflight connectivity platform has three major features, ie, open software platform, hardware architecture, seamless communication network and real-time aircraft data analysis, providing a complete set of customizable onboard inflight connectivity solutions for Chinese clients. This platform helps airlines generate revenue by introducing third-party passenger applications and services to them, and improve flight safety and efficiency by analyzing and transmitting key avionic data.  “Based on open platforms, oriented for customer needs, cooperated with business partners, equipped with customized solutions, AVIAGE SYSTEMS has been consistently upholding the philosophy of helping clients to improve flight safety, increase crew efficiency, and meet the diverse needs of passengers,” said Mr. George Chang, AVIAGE SYSTEMS President and CEO. “The signing of a memorandum of cooperation with each of Donica and SATPRO is only the beginning - we are expanding this cooperation, and believe that our platform will attract more partners in the future.”
