Brief Description:

  • The component engineer will manage the whole lifecycle of both electrical and mechanical components for use in aerospace applications, from component selection, qualification, application, and evaluation to obsolete management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain company component engineering process and system.
  • Develop and execute company and program component management plan and execution.
  • Develop component selection strategy basing on industry technology roadmap.
  • Handle component changes due to obsolescence or supply shortages. Work with sourcing to identify the component sources vendors and manufacturers, locate alternate source and find components substitutions along with qualification strategy.
  • Setup and maintain Component Library, ensure Component Library are current, usable, and consistently applied in support of this process
  • Lead component selection and qualification include: technical requirements, risk evaluation, obsolete minimization.
  • Maintain and tracking components information, lead component risk assessment.
  • Lead and perform the obsolete management, ensure all potential obsolete parts are anticipated and under control.
  • Interface with sourcing for component purchase; mitigate supply-chain risks.
  • Actively manage component lifecycle to reduce cost, improve quality.
  • Support hardware development from component management perspective.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands on component engineering experience in highly disciplined industrial.
  • Demonstrated good knowledge and experience in components technical performance, reliability, manufacture.
  • Good understanding of Circuit Board (PCB) design.
  • Good understanding of engineering documents (e.g. schematics, component datasheets…).
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of EDA design tools (e.g. Mentor).
  • Good verbal and written English and Chinese skills.
  • Good communication skills with various suppliers.
  • Good interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.
  • Good work ethic and professional conduct.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience and knowledge in avionics component engineering
  • Hands on experience in electronic designs
  • Strong skill and experience in environmental/EMI tests
  • Experience and knowledge and hardware system engineering.
  • Knowledge of Avionics standards, include DO-254, DO-297, APR4754a, ARINC 664, etc.
