
Brief Description:
- The Certification Engineer will demonstrate leadership and accountability for development and certification of products for AAM business. In this role, you will integrate and develop product certification processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within airworthiness and certification, perform airworthiness liaison to ensure engineering compliance to applicable CAAC/FAA/EASA regulations, get involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives in Certification to ensure CAAC/FAA/EASA standards are met.
- Interpret requirements of DO-254, DO-178C and ARP4754A, and ensure internal engineering development procedures in these areas are followed.
- Ensure products developed are the results of suitable, rigorous, and structured processes enacted throughout lifecycle.
- Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures as well as the product / program requirements
- Apply creative ideas, experienced judgment and sound analytical methods to solve complex problems critical to the company.
- Support certification plans and coordinate certification activities
- Identify certification counterparts of customer, suppliers and interparty supply partners, establish and maintain relationship with required external and internal interfaces
- Provide necessary coordination and agreed oversight for supplier collaboration work to ensure that customer requirements are understood and being achieved.
- Provide certification training to internal / external customers, serve as a certification mentor and domain expert for DO-254, DO-178C and ARP4754A engineering standards
- Interface with and provide support to regulatory authorities
- Other tasks assigned by line manager
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an aircraft certification and product / system development environment, including leading certification projects
- Strong oral and written communication skills (both in English and Chinese Mandarin).
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
- Proficiency in DO-254, DO-178C and ARP4754A
Qualifications Desired:
- Demonstrated working experience in certification for civil aerospace programs
- Familiarity with major aircraft subsystems, particularly Avionics and associated regulations
- Familiarity with TC, STC, TSO/ETSO/CTSO approval process, CAAC AP, FAA FAR, EASA CS, Advisory Circulars, Orders and Notices is a plus
- Familiarity in DO-297 and DO-160G is a plus
- Familiarity in network security DO-326A is a plus
- Familiarity in ARP4754B with understanding the difference in new version is a plus
- Experience interfacing with the CAAC, FAA, EASA, other regulatory agencies, aircraft manufacturers and 3rd party suppliers is a plus
- Experience with multi-discipline aspects of FAA FAR and EASA CS
- Understanding of the relationships between certification and other disciplines such as aircraft safety process (FHA & PASA, PSSA, SSA, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead certification projects, ability to guide and influence others
- Strong personal code of ethics and high levels of integrity
