Brief Description:
- The senior engineer works consistently in practical and innovative ways towards defined goals. In this role you will be responsible for work that is defined or less defined in scope, but also be expected to independently define and execute work assignments as well as making sound technical decisions, guiding others in execution. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Independently or lead group responsibility for the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and judgement and adhering to business/industrial standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Coach and influence others to produce approaches to achieve goals.
- Lead execution of plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, budgeting, and contractual commitments.
- Develop and lead action plans to anticipate and respond to complex problems which need cross team coordination.
- Work in collaboration with necessary parties and global engineering teams to achieve the team/project/business goal.
- Capture, categorize, document and validate the hardware requirements.
- Define board level functional architecture, choose the key technologies and components.
- Design and capture schematics, lead the design reviews.
- Write hardware documents, including but not limited to hardware design specification, hardware verification plan, hardware development plan, hardware test procedure, hardware verification report, hardware and software interface specification, etc.
- Write the layout and routing constraints, provide board level layout and routing directives to external PCB layout vendor, follow up the PCB layout/routing.
- Perform circuit calculations and analysis, including but not limited to power consumption calculation, MTBF calculation, signal integrity analysis, etc.
- Generate the bill of material, interact with PCBA vendor to build prototypes.
- Interact with other engineers to insure proper implementation (manufacturing engineer, mechanical engineer, software engineer, system engineer).
- Debug and test the prototypes, perform the environmental and regulatory tests, resolve all kinds of hardware issues.
- Support project planning efforts and ensure execution to schedule and budget.
- Serve as a mentor to less experienced design engineers.
- Regularly meet/talk to technical vendors to refresh the technology awareness and catch up the industrial and technical trend.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years in power supply design experience, ability to independently design and test switch mode power supply products, complete schematic design, PCB layout, component selection and BOM definition, complete the prototype debugging, testing verification and ensure that the product passes certification
- Proficient in drive circuit design of power semiconductor devices.
- Proficient in power topological such as Buck, Boost, Flyback, LLC ,Full-Bridge etc. and AC-DC, DC-DC power converter design.
- Proficient in EMC design principles such as filtering, shielding, and grounding technologies, theoretical and practical EMC experience, proficient in the troubleshooting of EMC issue, familiar with lightning protection circuits.
- Proficient in the component selection, magnetic components design.
- Proficient in derating design, redundancy design and FMEA of high-reliability power supply.
- Proficient in using one of hardware design tools, such as Mentor, Cadence, etc.
- Proficient in using simulation tools and calculation tools (Pspice, Multisim, etc.)
- Proficient in using lab equipment, including but not limited to Oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
- Experience in aviation or in high-reliability transportation, automotive, telecom or industrial field.
- Experience with driving suppliers
- Experience with documents creation in full life cycle
- Fluent in English, both in written and oral, be able to communicate and discuss the technical issues and questions with global team in English, both in Email and on the phone
- “Can-do” spirit, be able to quickly adapt to changing environment, strong execution and rigorous.
Qualifications Desired:
- Knowledge of Avionics standards, include DO-254, DO-297, APR4754a, ARINC 664, ARINC 429, ARINC 825, ARINC 653, etc.
- Avionics (DO-160G) or automotive EMI/EMC troubleshooting and qualification testing
- Experience of working within full lifecycle development: requirements capture, concept design and proposal, detail design, Integration and test, verification, transfer to production.
