Brief Description:
- The Supply Chain Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing and qualifying suppliers for aviation products, with a specialized focus on avionics and electrical systems. Acting as the key technical interface between the internal engineering teams and the external suppliers, you will manage supplier relationship to ensure on time delivery of products that meet AVIAGE SYSTEMS' requirements of technology, quality and cost. These responsibilities demand a unique blend of deep engineering expertise and robust supply chain acumen.
Responsibilities:
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead supply chain activities during the NPI phase for aviation products. Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or other qualification requirements for new product.
- Supplier Development: Identify, evaluate, select, and develop new suppliers. Conduct technical assessments of suppliers' capabilities, processes, and quality systems to ensure they can meet aerospace requirements.
- Engineering-Supply Chain Liaison: Translate engineering requirements and drawings (including electrical schematics, PCB layouts, software specs, etc.) into clear, actionable information for suppliers and in-house production. Conversely, communicate supplier and in-house production capabilities and constraints back to the design engineering team.
- Design for Supply Chain (DfSC): Collaborate with design engineers to influence product designs for manufacturability (DFM), testability (DFT), and cost (DFC) without compromising quality and performance.
- Risk Management: Lead technical cost analysis and should-cost modeling. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (single-source, geopolitical, capacity, etc.) for critical avionics components.
- Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for resolving complex supplier-related issues, including component failures, non-conformances, and production line disruptions. Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in both suppliers and in-house shopfloor to enhance quality, reduce cost, and improve delivery performance.
- Other duties as assigned by line manager.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, combining supply chain development and engineering, within the aerospace industry.
- Strong engineering foundation in avionics or electronic systems and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Proven experience in supplier development, qualification, and management.
- Excellent understanding of aerospace quality systems (AS9100) and requirements.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
Qualifications Desired:
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration (MBA).
- Direct experience with avionics product development (DO-254/DO-178C/DO-160).
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP and sourcing platforms.
- Willingness to travel to supplier sites (up to 25%).
